- Rate Reference — cited market data kept honestly separate, by basis AND by surface: what contractors report charging (e.g. $0.10–$0.14 per sq ft of exterior siding from one 2020 forum post, $0.15 per sq ft of concrete from one 2018 flat-work forum post, $100–$200 per man-hour targets — every figure labeled with its vintage and what it does not prove) vs 2026 consumer marketplace ranges, vs a DIY estimator shown only as a warning. These tables inform you; they never set your price.

What it is NOT
- Not installed software. It’s a spreadsheet you own — Excel 2016+, Excel 365, LibreOffice, or Google Sheets. No macros, so no security warnings.
- Not a lead source or marketing service. It prices jobs; it doesn’t find them.
- Not income advice, and not a promise. It’s an educational reference that does the arithmetic from your inputs. We make no claims about what you’ll earn, win, or charge — your market, your work, and your sales effort decide that. It is not financial, legal, tax, or insurance advice.
- Not a “market rate” oracle. There is deliberately no single blended market number anywhere in it. Preloaded references are cited, dated, labeled by basis, and editable; anything without a defensible source ships blank with instructions.
Honest early-release note
This is a new product (first release v1.0, August 2026). The bid math is tested against an independent reference implementation, and the reference tables carry their dates. If you find a figure you can show is wrong, tell us — we’ll fix it and refresh the file.

Frequently asked questions
Is this software I install? No — it’s a spreadsheet (.xlsx in a ZIP). It works in Excel 2016 or newer, Excel 365, LibreOffice Calc, and Google Sheets (import steps included). No macros.
Will it tell me exactly what to charge in my city? No tool honestly can. It computes your bid from your own costs and margin, then shows you cited national reference bands (kept separate by source basis, with dates) so you can sanity-check yourself. Rates are local — the tool tells you to verify locally, and gives you regional and seasonal notes to start from.
Where do the preloaded numbers come from? Every preloaded figure is on the Sources tab with its source name, URL, the date the page itself shows (or an explicit “no date shown”), and our access date (2026-08-28) — plus a note on what that source does not prove. Anything we couldn’t cite ships blank with instructions instead of a made-up default.
How is this different from the Power Washing course? The $49.99 course teaches you to launch the business, and its companion calculator teaches a quote-floor method tied to the lessons. Bid It Right is a standalone bid engine: an itemized cost model, per-surface time suggestions, cited and dated reference tables (2026 consumer ranges; labeled-vintage contractor reports), a minimum-fee guard, sanity flags, and a printable quote sheet. They work well together; neither requires the other.
Do you see my numbers? No. The file runs entirely on your computer. Nothing is collected, uploaded, or tracked — there’s nothing to.
